Track Name: When He Plays (for Jay + Tessa)
When He Plays
-c- 2012 Brad Brubaker

The first time that I heard him play
Just a friend of mine with an angel face
Every voice just needs the perfect song
So I swayed my .hips and I sang along

It was a verse just like déjà vu
So strange and familiar you swear it happened to you
And a chorus like a reoccurring dream
‘Cause when evening comes it is the only thing.
When I wanna go home all I gotta do
Is close my eyes and listen to you.

It took strength for me to take my time
But we were playing shows and I made him mine
I knew that I would have the perfect life
If I could sing with him every night

He plays a verse just like déjà vu
So strange and familiar you swear it happened to you
And a chorus like a reoccurring dream
‘Cause when evening comes it is the only thing.
When I wanna go home all I gotta do
Is close my eyes and listen to you.

Every day with you I can’t believe
So I thank God each night for bringing you to me.
And you say, “There’s one song that you never heard.
So lean in close and listen to the words.

“You are a verse just like déjà vu
I have to pinch myself to make sure it’s true
You are my favorite reoccurring dream
You’re the only song that I ever sing…
When I wanna go home
All I gotta do
Is close my eyes
And sing with you…
I want to keep on singing
Cuz you’re my favorite tune
I want to keep this feeling
And I want to marry you.”
Track Name: The Scientific Statement of Being (Metal)
There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all. Spirit is immortal Truth; matter is mortal error. Spirit is the real and eternal; matter is the unreal and temporal. Spirit is God, and man is His image and likeness. Therefore man is not material; he is spiritual.

You love me for who I am / and not who you want me to be
You love me for who I am / and not who you want me to be
You love me for who I am / and not who you want me to be
You love me for who I am / and not who you want me to be

When I feel it's hopeless / You believe in me
When I feel lost / You take the lead
When I am broken / You help me grieve
And you save the pieces / That you know I'll need

You love me for...
You love me for who I am / and not who you want me to be
You love me for who I am / and not who you want me to be

When help is needed / You're an outstretched hand
When there are no answers / Still you understand

You love me for who I am / and not who you want me to be
You love me for who I am / and not who you want me to be

Like a timid leaf / On the tallest tree
You're the gentle wind / That will carry me

You love me for who I am / and not who you want me to be
You love me for who I am / and not who you want me to be
You love me for who I am / and not who you want me to be
You love me for who I am / and not who you want me to be

My Parents (Are Better Than Yours)

My friends are jealous of my mom's desserts / My parents are better than yours
Came to see me in the school play / My parents are better than yours
Decorations for Halloween / My parents are better than yours
Dad and I go canoeing / My parents are better than yours

Dad makes the pancakes / Mom makes the rest
No doubt about it / My parents are the very best

Always tell me that they're proud / My parents are better than yours
When dad laughs he makes a donkey sound / My parents are better than yours
They love me and my brother / My parents are better than yours
They're married to each other / My parents are better than yours

Dad makes the pancakes / Mom makes the rest
No doubt about it / My parents are the very best

(solo)

Pancakes in the morning...and cookies in my lunch

Threw me a birthday party / My parents are better than yours
All my friends were at the birthday party / My parents are better than yours
Lots of present at the birthday party / My parents are better than yours
Cake and ice cream at the birthday party / My parents are better than yours

Saving money for my education / My parents are better than yours
We went on a beach vacation / My parents are better than yours

Our friends are all more beautiful than you
Our friends are all more beautiful than you
You may think you’re clever
And who knows? It might be true
But our friends are all more beautiful than you

You may think you're special, it’s a lie
You may think you're special, it’s a lie
You’re seeking validation
But sometimes it is denied
I know your friends all say you’re special, it’s a lie

You think you found your place, but you are wrong
Yeah, you think you found your place, but you are wrong
But do not doubt the greeting cards
And sentimental songs
"You belong somewhere," but time to move along

You may feel entitled, think again
You may feel entitled, think again
Just because we' re friendly
Doesn’t mean we’re friends
We don't give handouts, kid, so think again

We know you think that you’re misunderstood
Your art and your whole life, misunderstood
But did you once consider
That you’re really not that good?
Do us all that favor if you could
Track Name: Lean Into You
Lean Into You
© 2012 Brad Brubaker

You’re a little too much of a hippie
Things would have never worked out
We both know I’m moving
But that’s not what I’m thinking about
Your bedroom up here in the attic
Is a quiet and cozy cocoon
It might be a tad untimely, but could I just lean into you?

Your smile’s just a little bit crooked
Still it’s better than some
But I’ll bet that your teeth would look perfect if…
So lay lady lay back and tell me
“The bed’s small, but it could fit two”
Sorry if I seem excited…Could I just lean into you?

You play me a song full of whimsy
I trade with a song full of pain
Are we moving a little bit closer
Or am I just going insane?
I want you to want what I’m wanting
So much that you’ll make the first move
If I don’t do it now I’ll regret it, could I just lean into you?
Track Name: Dog's Messin' With a Skunk Again
Dog’s Messin’ With A Skunk Again

(Verse)
Sittin’ on the couch, watchin’ a movie on the TV
On a cool February eve
Had to turn it down, there was a sound outside
I couldn’t hear it o’er the vee
Like a growlin’ and a barkin’
There must have been one Hell of a fight
So I threw on my boots
And headed into the night
Wish I’d stayed where I had been
Dog’s messin’ with a skunk again

(Chorus)
You know he never learns his lesson
There’s no way to tone it down
He foams at the mouth
Rubs his face on the ground
Ain’t no way to win
He’s messin’ with a skunk again

(Verse)
I take him in the bathtub, wash the oil out the fur
I’ll use whatever I can find
I’ll mix up buttermilk, orange juice, canned tomatoes
Arm-n-hammer, and hydrogen peroxide
But no matter how much smell
You wash on down the pipes
There’s always plenty left
To smell for a fortnight
Wish I’d stayed where I had been
Dog’s messin’ with a skunk again

(Chorus)
You know he never learns his lesson
There’s no way to tone it down
He foams at the mouth
Rubs his face on the ground
Ain’t no way to win
He’s messin’ with a skunk again

(Verse)
Had to set up the pet gates, move his bowl outside
And cover the bed and couch
Can’t take the chance that he might jump up
Cause you can’t just wash it out
I’m afraid it’s just the way he is
It happens every spring
When the critters get all twitter-pated
You know he’ll snap at anything
Wish I’d stayed there on the couch
Dog’s messin’ with a skunk again

(Chorus)
You’d think he’d learn his lesson
There’s no way to tone it down
He’ll foam at the mouth
Rub his burnin’ eyes on the ground
Ain’t no way to win
He’s messin’ with a skunk again

(c) 2012 Brad Brubaker

This is a story I stumbled upon;
A dream worth recording before it is gone.
Embraced me like something once cherished and lost.
The grudges long held were so easily tossed.

The years we’d spent wondering every unknown
Tumbled out while we were tangled in clothes.
My head lay on your chest as you said aloud,
“I understand you so much better now.”

This point in the story I figured it neat
To walk from my reading with it incomplete.
There’s only one ending with which I’d agree:
If on the last page it said you’re still with me.

I grab a coat
And I bundle up
Just like any other day
But since spring gave way
To the summer months
You know my patience had to fade

Watch another sun
Cross another sky
But I cannot feel its rays
Add another layer
Wrap my blanket tight
And roll over, hibernate

My scarf and gloves have become my closest friends
See my breath and wonder, “Will this winter ever end?”

Since the heat turned off
I’ve been taking walks
To feel the blood flow in my veins
Pass open toes
And the short-sleeve set
And pull the hood to hide my face

Flip another page
For another month
Never felt so grey
Watch the beaches fill
And the clothing shed
While my climate stays the same

Soon the autumn leaves promise frost will come again
Still, the ground will thaw, while my winter never ends

And I wonder, “Will this winter ever end?”

Watch the seasons change
On this tilted earth
Try to disengage
Just another day
And another year
And my ever-slowing pace
Track Name: My New Occupation
My New Occupation
© 2011 Brad Brubaker

There are things I will always remember
There are things that someday I’ll forget
But the things that I lost
Cuz of that Boston job
Are still in my memory yet

I once had a job out in Boston
For which I moved ten hundred miles
They had $20k
Which they spent in 4 days
So they sent me away with a smile

They said they’d pay for relocation
An offer they later denied
I was a bit daft
Cuz when I did the math
Two grand was the cost of their lie

There are things I will always remember
There are things that someday I’ll forget
But the things that I lost
Cuz of that Boston job
Are still in my memory yet

I called my Chicago apartment
No tenant had ever been found
But the building was old
So the landlords had sold
While no leases had any space bound

I called up the place I’d been temping
Who lent me a sorrowful ear
They were quite sad to tell me
That there was a job freeze
But to check back the first of the year

There are things I will always remember
There are things that someday I’ll forget
But the things that I lost
Cuz of that Boston job
Are still in my memory yet

So I found a new occupation
With people out there just like me
While the bailed out banks give
Bonuses so damn big
It’s more money than we’ll ever see

So I dedicate this final chorus
To people who’ve covered their ears
So let’s all get rowdy
And sing along loudly
So maybe they’ll finally hear

There are things we will always remember
There are things that someday we’ll forget
But WE WERE THE TARGETS
OF THE FINANCIAL MARKETS
And we haven’t seen justice served yet

There are things we will always remember
There are things that someday we’ll forget
But we were the targets
Of the financial markets
And we haven’t seen justice served yet

We were the targets
Of the financial markets
And we haven’t seen justice served yet

We are the 99
This has been the worst of times
Lost our jobs and though we try
We’re often overqualified

We carry debt of student loans
Banks have all foreclosed our homes
The one percent who hold the wealth
Don’t support our public health

We are the 99
Treated like a bottom line
The only freedom that I know
Equally we’re bought and sold

They are the one percent
Who pull the strings of government
The rest of us, we still exist
But can’t afford a lobbyist

We are the 99
This is finally our time
We’ll take the horns, defeat the bull
They’ll be held accountable

We are the 99
This is finally our time
We’re not just in Liberty Square
We’re occupying everywhere

We are the 99
Wall Street, can you spare a dime?
Bankers, could you help us out?
We didn’t get a bail out

Corporate welfare isn’t free
This is not democracy
Job creation’s what we need
Not your money-hungry greed

We are the 99
We march against white collar crime
Chanting loud and standing tall
They cannot arrest us all

Financial fraud for short term gain
Plus bonuses and tax breaks
These economics we object
This is trickle down effect

We are the 99
This is finally our time
We’ll take the horns, defeat the bull
They’ll be held accountable

We are the 99
This is finally our time
We’re not just in Liberty Square
We’re occupying everywhere

I am awake
I am awake
I am awake in a dreaming world

You’re waiting for your break
You’re waiting for that moment
When everything you’re dreaming
Comes into being
You’re waiting for that day
When everything is different
How long have you been waiting? (How long have been…?)

Open up your eyes and see
It’s televised reality
What you pursue, you cannot achieve

I am awake
I am awake
I am awake in a dreaming world

How long til you break?
It’s an endless cycle
Someone always stealing
And your empty feeling
How much will you take?
The dream is slowly dying
How long have been trying? (How long have you been…?

Open up you eyes and see
Now’s the opportunity
Shout it out - take it to the streets

I am awake
I am awake
I am awake in a dreaming world

Mine eyes have seen the glory of the calm before the storm
Like a phoenix in the ashes I know we will be reborn
We’re coming to reclaim what’s ours, remember you’ve been warned
This truth is marching on!

Glory, glory! Hallelujah!
Glory, glory! Hallelujah!
Glory, glory! Hallelujah!
This truth is marching on!

Mine eyes have seen the glory of the rise before the fall
Just as David slew Goliath with a wise and mighty arm
When justice comes a-calling, please remember you’ve been warned
This truth is marching on!
Track Name: The Lord's Prayer
Matt. 6: 9-13
9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

11 Give us this day our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Track Name: Wait 'Til Wednesday
It was Monday when I met you
And don’t think that I’ll forget you
But I think I’ll wait ‘til Wednesday
To ask you to hang out with me
I think sooner would be sweeter
But I mustn’t seem too eager
I’ll make my move, but not today
Cuz even I can wait two days
I’ll wait ‘til Wednesday then I’ll make my move

I really suck at dating stuff
But I don’t wanna scare you off
Though some would like the danger
Of a tall and handsome stranger
Women do not like the pressure
Of insane romantic gestures
I think I’m going half-insane
Cuz Wednesday seems so far away
Tomorrow is the day to make my move

Screw the games, I’ll be a man
And you can take me as I am
I’ll bet you would appreciate
Me asking you out on a date
Cuz why pretend I’m busy
When I wish that you were with me?
I will wait until I stop
Tomorrow isn’t soon enough
Tonight’s the night for me to make my move

---

What..a…
Painfully depressing call
Why do I even try at all?
It’s really disconcerting
All these failed attempts at flirting
I just cannot take the pressure
Making dumb romantic gestures
Cuz it seems I am the master
Of perpetual disaster
And I prob’ly read your signals wrong
I’m just some guy you’ll string along
You only act inviting
Cuz attention’s quite exciting
And you’d tell me things that aren’t true
To make me fall in love with you
Then say we’re better off as friends
I’m wondering what happened
Cuz this total lack of closure
Doesn’t make me feel closer
To a place where I can understand
Why nothing goes the way I planned
This Wednesday I am meeting up with you!
Track Name: Stormy Young Man
So much time
Spent singing these nightmares
And so little living my dreams

Love is the sum
Of my disappointments
And people I’m longing to kiss
The muse I want does not exist

Love is a pounding hammer that’s courteous all the while
It’ll watch you stand there broken and make you do it with a smile

So much time
Spent singing these nightmares
And so little living my dreams

Each little note
Terrible nightmares
My muse isn’t kind as she seems

The human heart
Is nothing more
Than a beautiful, blood-covered fist
The muse I want does not exist

But if she does
And she hears this song
I hope she’ll prove me wrong
The muse I want does not exist
Track Name: Walrus Love Song

Napalm Lipbalm presents
“That Girl (Is a Dud)”

She fell from the sky and people ran
While I stood below with open hands
Wondered when I’d feel the blast
And waited for a blinding flash

I think I’m in love with an empty shell
And based on personal intel
Every message I decode
Seems to say she won’t explode---

Call off the bomb squad (Calling off the bomb squad)
Call off the SWAT team (Calling off the SWAT team)
Call off the camera crew (Calling off the camera crew)
Though her heart is pumping ballistic blood
That girl, that girl, that girl is a dud

I think I’m in love with the walking dead
Like a round of blanks fired at my head
I listen close and feel dumb
Cuz the day she ticks will never come---

Call off the bomb squad (Calling off the bomb squad)
Call off the SWAT team (Calling off the SWAT team)
Call off the camera crew (Calling off the camera crew)
Though her heart is pumping ballistic blood
That girl, that girl, that girl is a dud

I think I’m in love ... I think I’m in love
I think I’m in love … I think I’m in love but that girl is a dud

I’m in love with a blast that never came
This snowy screen feels like a stain
The static sound will never change
I’m in love with a blast that never came
Track Name: Maybe, Just Maybe, You're Sending Me a Message and This is How You've Chosen to Do It...Lemme Know
I gotta crush on you so big
It'd crush most anything
Like a chunk of coal to diamond
Or my willingness to live

So I'm hanging on to every word
Even those you never say
And there's something I've been wondering
And kinda hoped you could explain

And it’s probably just nothing
Yes, it’s absolutely nothing
I’m just being paranoid once more
I’ve done it seven times before

I’m just wondering the reason,
If there is one, why
After all the hanging out we do
You never say goodbye?
Track Name: These Damsels Be Fierce!! (feat. Liz Chidester) (explicit)
MALE VERSE (M)
There once was the damndest damsel
She didn’t wanna be saved
No offer, no invitation
Nothing could pull her away
Tells me the thing that holds her
Cannot and won’t be escaped
But I think she might see it different
If she listened to me…

In the desert
There's a river
It appears for
All who seek

I can touch it
I can taste it
When I drink

I believe I've
Found the secret
It ain't some bullshit
On TV

There's a love that
Only blesses
And meets all needs

FEMALE VERSE (F)
There’s a man who’s scarred and punctured
He thinks he carries a light
N’ though he’s more chink than armor
He fancies himself a knight
He’d rather be a martyr
Than ever rise up and fight
An’ he says that he’s gonna save me
But he’s more lost than I

You believe in
An oasis
A wondrous sight I've
Never seen

In the darkness
When my eyes close
I cannot sleep

In my quiet
Earnest longing
There’s is no voice that
Speaks to me

In the morning
When the sun come
I feel no heat
I feel no heat

F: I ain’t yours to rescue…figure it out
Can’t we be open about our doubts

M: I’ve seen this before…I know how it ends
And so help me God, it won’t happen again
You’re the best damn thing…please don’t leave

F: Quit talking in circles and listen to me!

I know that you’re scared / and you have every right to be
But who is all this ranting for? / cuz it sure as hell ain’t me
I’m not sure what else to say / Cuz I’m just not breakin’ through

Is this really about some vision / or it really me and you?

M: This is the best that I can do:
In the desert...
Track Name: Penis With the Wings of an Eagle (explicit)
VERSE 1
She's been crying
She's been trying so hard but she's got to admit her hope is dying
So she's been crying

She's been coping
She's been moping and telling her mother that she thinks her daughter's broken
But she's been coping

PRECHORUS 1
She 's been dreaming of someone, someone who's bald
She's been craving some talons, a dick and two balls
(She needs a...)

CHORUS 1
Penis with the wings of an eagle
Red and blue and white
He's a willy with wings
He has feathers and things
To make a woman feel all right

Penis with the wings of an eagle
Can make her loins take flight
He has patriot parts
That will open her heart
And in all likelihood her thighs

VERSE 2
She's been dating
She's been waiting for someone better than the men she's been fellating
Yeah, she's been waiting

She's been praying
She's been saving herself for the loving of a certain type of avian
Yeah, she's been praying

PRECHORUS 2
She will not abide any flightless dicks
Cuz she doesn’t have time for penguin pricks
(Mama told her that a...)

CHORUS 2
Penis with the wings of an eagle
Is the one she's hoping for
He is downy and soft
But he likes playing rough
Cuz he's just come back from war

Penis with the wings of an eagle
Is tattooed with stars and stripes
He's a phallus with feathers
And they'll be together
For the best night of her life

BRIDGE
And one steamy evening, her wish came true
Cross your fingers and toes and he might come for you
He only cares if your willing...not if your cute
And he's got a flagpole you'll wanna salute

(Solo)

CHORUS 3
Penis with the wings of an eagle
Is soaring through the sky
So don't be a bimbo
Baby, open your window
And he'll visit you tonight

Penis with the wings of an eagle
Wiener warrior of the night
I hate to be blunt
But he's been fighting for country
You should f*** him to be nice

CHORUS 4
Penis with the wings of an eagle
Killed a terrorist with his dong
You should get on your knees
Cuz he's free of disease...
Track Name: Schminger-Schmongwriter (Dead By 30) (explicit)
Schminger-Schmongwriter (Dead By 30)

1
I heard a band that’s abuzz this week
Offbeat instruments and retro chic
MFAs that sing of hopping trains
A well-sewn quilt of stock clichés

Americana with fancy hair
Add more reverb until Pitchfork cares
And when the fashion changes, I’ll still be here
‘Til another fad makes me disappear

2
The other day I saw the latest star
Strumming standard chords on a pink guitar
An airbrushed sound and a soulless swing
Hit all the notes, but she couldn’t sing

She’s a shiny face with a killer rack
But her heart has never even seen a crack
And when her beauty fades away, I’ll still be here
‘Til a newer model makes me disappear

3
Trust fund babies wearing torn up clothes
Spouting wisdom everybody knows
Singing “young forever” and “f*** the man”
Talking down so we might understand

Think they’re rebels, but their only cause
Just the pursuit of canned applause
And when these Brooklyn kids grow up, I’ll still be here
‘Til another hipster makes me disappear

4
Chop off my legs and I’ll try to stand
Change my name so it sounds like a band
I play empty clubs with spit and scorn
Guess I’ve got my art to keep me warm

I sing the truth and I sing it well
And if you don’t like it you can go to hell
What was I fighting for anyway?
Yeah, I'll be a martyr 'til my dying day
I’ll be a martyr ‘til the day I die
When no one notices I’m not alive
Track Name: Revolving Door (Push It, Baby)
Revolving Door (Push It, Baby)

I fell in love today in a revolving door
I caught her eye and then we cycled more
I’d like to take her out and maybe buy her flowers
She and I have been circling now for hours

Push it, baby

The revolving door, it spins and spins and spins
Quite a predicament my love and I are in
But when I see her smile…I’m so glad I chose her
Though we push this door ‘round an’ don’t get any closer

Push it harder now
Push it faster now
And now push it soft
But, for the love of God, don’t ever stop

I really need a shower and a shave
Cuz event’ally the hours turned to days
We’re growing bitter though we’ve never talked
Still we keep circling, never getting off
Track Name: Stupid Things (for Paul & Whitney)
Stupid Things

That girl has a proclivity / For stripping when she drinks
But to every guy’s amazement / He’s enamored by her friend
The East Coast boy and the Midwest girl / They think they’ll never meet again
But at the end of the night when they say goodbye / He begins to think

“I would do stupid things…to be with you
I would do stupid things…to be with you
I never wanna wonder / What became of you
I would do stupid things, whoa-oa, to be with you”

He flies to Chicago / And calls her out the blue
When he leaves he tells her / “I’ve got an 8th grade crush on you”
He sends her a mix tape / And a shitty Walkman too
And she says, “What do I see? Flights to D.C. / I’ll see you in a month or two

Cuz I’d do stupid things…to be with you
I would do stupid things…to be with you
I never wanna wonder / What became of you
I would do stupid things, whoa-oa, to be with you”

After a couple of visits
His decision’s made
Packs up and moves his things
To the city by the lake
You can call it crazy
You can have your doubts
You can call ‘em stupid
But you should see ‘em now!

They keep growing closer / And marry in a year
They get an apartment / Of their own in Lincoln Square
It isn’t very long / Before their family starts to grow
And they say, “Look at us now” and think of how nobody could’ve known

I would do stupid things…to be with you
I would do stupid things…to be with you
Maybe they are morons
Maybe I’m one too
I would do stupid things…to be with you
Track Name: What Caitlyn Never Knew
If I seem like I’m on fire
It’s cuz I have seen the light
If I seem a little forward
It’s cuz I have been behind
If I seem a little vacant
It’s cuz you have blown my mind

I seem a little lost
Would you be so kind
As to take me by the hand
And walk me home tonight?
And I might say these words
If you squeeze it really tight...

I’m in love...I’m in love, I’m in love, I’m in love, I’m in love
I’m in love...I’m in love, I’m in love, I’m in love, I’m in love
I’m in love...I’m in love
With you

It’s like a little religion
Of mass confusion
Damp with tears and
Perspiration
A million questions
With no solution
It’s love

I’m in love...I’m in love, I’m in love, I’m in love, I’m in love
I’m in love...I’m in love, I’m in love, I’m in love, I’m in love
I’m in love...I’m in love
With you

And your smile...It’s your lips and your teeth and the space in between
And your eyes..They’re big and they’re brown and their open up wide
Your smile...Your smile
Your smile
Track Name: Requiem for Ironic Cover Songs
Another singer with ironic cover songs
They think it’s clever, but they couldn’t be more wrong
A lazy reference with a shelf life of one line
But they keep singing while we cringe and check the time

It’s something so predictable
You’re nothing but a fraud
Leave the stage and then we will applaud

Please leave the Bieber and Rhianna at the door
Stop the Britney and we’ll prob’ly like you more
No one’s impressed when you rap someone else’s words
Unwitting parody, so tragically absurd

It’s something so predictable
You’re nothing but a fraud
Leave the stage and then we will applaud

This only illustrates you have nothing to say
You’re not an artist you’re a popular cliché

It’s something so predictable
You’re nothing but a fraud
Leave the stage and then we will applaud
Track Name: Sittin' in the Shade of the Old Outhouse (Music by Billy Sea)
(verse)
With all the dogs and kids and his old lady in the house
Sometimes Buck just needs to find some peace
Sitting in the shade of the old outhouse
He finds solitude and release

Once when Buck was walking to his secret, special place
He realized that he was not alone
‘Cause every other man in the neighborhood
Was seeking sanctuary on the throne

(chorus)
One day he heard the strangest sound, he struggled to believe
And not the type that you expect from a neighboring latrine
Bobby Ray was picking his guitar on the can
And that’s how we came to start an outhouse band

(verse)
Later on when Buck went for his evening sojourn
He listened close for Bobby Ray’s guitar
Sitting in the shade of the old outhouse
Everyone heard Buck’s mouth harp

(chorus)
One day we heard the strangest sound, we struggled to believe
And not the type that you expect from a neighboring latrine
Harmonica with Bobby Ray just pickin’ on the can
And that’s how we came to start an outhouse band

(bridge)
We never talked about it, that’s something men don’t do
But gradually the harmonies echoed loo to loo
Some people get their best ideas just sittin’ on the john
So if you have a mind to, feel free to play along
But please don’t tell our wives
Because we need this in our lives

(verse)
Well Cooter plays the cowbell, Duane plays the tambourine
Bubba plays the trumpet in a way you’ve never seen
Woody whistles wonderf’ly while Earl plays the jug
Turns out we’re all as crazy as Buck

(chorus)
Now we all make the strangest sound you’d struggle to believe
And not the type that you expect from a neighboring latrine
All because of Bobby Ray just picking on the can
That’s how we came to start an outhouse band

Billy played the fiddle ‘fore he switched to mandolin
Old Joe tried the banjo once and now he just listens
Even our indiscretions toot in harmony
That’s something you can’t say of any proper symphony

Llewellyn plays the jaw harp and it makes a silly sound
Jebidiah plays the upright bass, but we’re not really sure how
Lee can play the spoons even with his trousers down
Now none of us consider eating dinner at his house

Sittin' in the shade of the old outhouse
Track Name: Cuts Me Like the Wind
I am impervious
I have rough, calloused skin
I am still standing
I've seen and survived everything
But a pretty girl still cuts me like the wind

She is a lighthouse
Telling me I've come home
She is the mountain mist
Causes the valley to glow
And I feel her when the wind begins to blow

A pretty girl still cuts me like the wind

She is a mother
To every child that she sees
I'm hoping someday
That she'll make a father of me

I am a barricade
She's discovered a door
She is the sweetest song
Makes my heart start to hurt
And every day I feel I love her more

Every day I feel I love her more
And a pretty girl still cuts me like the wind
